New Hard Times Come over You
      Uhhmnnn, in the midnite wind
        I heard an A.M. voice – say,
        Watch out, son, when making
Your choices – You can work
For greed or work just for fun
Just make sure you’re not being
Taken in by a hollow system ---
        Uhhmmmnnn, the wisdom is free
Unless you don’t listen to me
And then you’ll pay either way
By being a slave to the wind
You’ll never catch or know -no
Matter how many bucs you grab
You won’t get to know happy from
Anything but what’s out of a bag---
So, just go on your own and heed
What I say but remember everyday
Is a gift unto you and it’s not what
You do but how you do it and, really,
Ain’t nothing more to it than that ---
Watch your desires and don’t get fat
Like them cats on Wallstreet & in D.C.
Yeah, listen to me, I been around for
A long, long years and seen it all – I
Even seen Rome fall and lions roar
When they broke down the doors and
Ate all the mistakes –so called greats
And what was known as the Senate
With orators and those senators just
Begging for mercy instead of steaks ---
So when you come around and figure
Me out I’ll be in Alabama cleaning up
The south from the leftover sinners who
Whipped the horse’s eyes and made them
All scream and cry for having an opinion.

Ahhh, it’s hard times … It’s hard times
        … ahhh, it’s hard times … It’s hard times
Ahhh, it’s hard times … It’s hard times

Ahhh, it’s hard times … It’s hard times
        … ahhh, it’s hard times … It’s hard times
Ahhh, it’s hard times … It’s hard times.
