February Nights

The tumbler was full
Ice crackled like embers
On the buffet sat a half full vessel
Its contents – carefully hand crafted
Refined by process for intense character
Falling February snow was contrasted
Against an amazing bouquet of pink lilies
Candles burning, bunches of tulips in rooms
It was all so pungently fragrant and vividly
Left behind clues – romantic remnants of what
Was another St. Valentine’s Day come to pass
And more days still ahead with winter time winds;
New beginnings and hope for spring in a bird’s song
