Subject: interesting perspective from a Special Corps Marine I hung-out with

So I had the opportunity to hang out and drink some beers and Don Julio with this Special Corps Marine.

I had me new Relix Magazine with me at a bar and I guess I must have looked interesting in w/ my Ray Bans (worn in MIB2), my longer hair, vintage Banana Republic suede California coat and holy zip up sweater, thermal shirt under an urban outfitters graphic tee and Levis because this dude kept looking at me and I could tell he was waiting for the right opportunity to talk w/ me.

And, sure enough, he was into the Jamband scene and a big fan of Rusted Root, microbrews, outdoor activities and he also worked some security and location for Hollywood.
Thus, we had lots to talk about over some beers and tequila before I finished my errands and cooked dinner for my wife.

At any rate, this guy was real bad-ass Marine. He smoked non-filtered Camels and had his head shaved and I could tell if we rumbled it would probably be to the death. Although he wasn't a real huge guy he seemed incredibly strong and well trained.

When touching upon the NEWS he also likes to watch FOX but also watches other channels as well and gets a kick how each broadcast and program has its own type of spin and style of spin. (I'm not certain if he was into analyzing the women in NEWS as much as me).

But when the subject came to the War, he blamed the media for making it look like it's a losing battle. He stated that they are safe over there and doing a good job. In fact, he said that they are safer over there than in our streets and quoted that apprx. 30,000 military people were injured or died because of violence in the U.S. in the past few years. And he feels the media should either back-off and let them get the job done or do some better reporting.

In addition, (and this was great to hear it from one of our "good boys") that the hard stuff like heroin, meth and coke is worth tracking down and stopping but who the hell cares about tracking down marijuana and what a waste of resources. On over seas missions they don't go after marijuana with resources and he feels we shouldn't be using resources here in the U.S. for it either.
