Shit Together
Is our government
thinking ahead enough on the War on Terror beyond the current,
new offensives in Iraq? Thinking ahead enough and not too far
behind in topical times so that we can feel safe as Americans?
Has anyone thought ahead
enough so that when it is announced in the media Bin Laden has
been caught we are ready for his followers who have been
ordered to carry out X, Y, and Z plans against the U.S. and
its interests and supporters?! This is may be a real scenario
and I hope I can trust that we will be ready for this. Because
we sure as hell weren't ready for 911 since we were still lost
in the War on Drugs - and, unfortunately, like for some people
who still have the battles of WWII in their heads, or Vietnam,
there are still those out of touch people who would like to
lock-up some kid for smoking reefer.
The War on Terror is the
real battle – (and not the agenda of the War on Drugs -
busting those for victimless crimes and having our tax dollars
pay for these people to, in fact, become more hardened and
dangerous to society for spending time in prison for what
allot of the country partakes in as part as their own social
usage. The War on Drugs proven to be more of a smoke screen
for previous administrative agendas and, pitifully,
distracting us from real threats from abroad – yet right here
on the same streets that the War on Drugs was being fought).
So, let's ask ourselves
in this precious arena of the media that can so waste our
time, agitate, be useful and, sometimes even edifying, do we
have our shit together yet?
