Attorneys and psychologists will tell you, if it's 88 degrees outside and yet a person thinks it's 44 degrees instead - that's how they perceive it and you can't really do much to change their perception.
 
thus, age can be a state of mind.
 
In a Cultural Anthropology class at PSU I learned of a tribe in Russia were the older you were the better your status in the tribe was and the more responsibility for action you were given and expected to perform, whereas, instead of viewing "old people" like we do (wasting away), these folks were vibrant, chopping down trees at over 100.
